POSITION: DRIVER
RTI International is seeking Driver
for a USAID-funded malaria surveillance and monitoring activity in
Zanzibar, the Okoa Maisha Dhibiti Malaria (OMDM) Activity. The purpose
of this Activity is to—in collaboration with National Malaria Control
Program (NMCP) and Zanzibar Malaria Elimination Program (ZAMEP),
in-country stakeholders and the U.S. Presidents Malaria Initiative
(PMI)—strengthen surveillance, monitoring and vector control efforts in
Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar, in alignment with the Government of
Tanzania’s (GOT) national malaria strategic plans and USAID priorities.
Driver will report to Surveillance and M&E Specialist Zanzibar. Location: Zanzibar
Roles and Responsibilities:
The Driver will Drive RTI vehicle(s) and execute the tasks as assigned by the Supervisor. She/he will ensure the safety of passengers, cargo and vehicle and observe traffic rules and road discipline. She/he will perform the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle to ensure roadworthiness, includes daily check of tires, brakes, engine oil, fan belt, battery etc. Make monthly reports on vehicle status and share with the supervisor. The Driver will report promptly any defects or malfunctioning of the vehicle that require immediate attention to the Supervisor’s/he will assist the Supervisor in planning and control of (regular) services, including dispatch and collection of official documents and mail. She/he will in case of accident, ensure supervisors are informed and a police report is obtained. She/he will ensure cost savings through proper use of vehicles through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs. She/he will check daily status and availability of spares jack and tools and perform minor repairs to the vehicle, change tires, always refuel the vehicle as required and ensure cleanliness of the vehicle. She/he will ensure that the RTI vehicle(s) are only used for official/authorized business and report to supervisor if unauthorized incident (s) took place. She/he will prepare monthly and annual fuel reports, maintenance reports and personal mileages reports for RTI vehicles in Dar es Salaam and verify that RTI cars are used for official trips only. Perform other duties as may be required by Supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A Secondary School Certificate and a minimum of three (03) years’ experience International organization preferable.
- S/he must have a valid driver’s license class C and proof of good driving records
- S/he Should have Advance Driving Certificate NIT/VETA preferable
- Able to work effectively with minimum supervision
- Good organization and able to handle multiple tasks efficiently;
- Ability to prioritize work and assignments effectively;
- Trustworthy, high sense of responsibility, alert; emotional stability, neat and courteous;
- Ability to deal patiently and tactfully with people from different national and cultural background;
- Ability to communicate in Kiswahili and simple English;
