Research Triangle Institute (RTI) is an independent non-profit research institute dedicated to improving the human condition with over 30 years’ experience assisting governments, communities, and the private sector in managing their environment and natural resources. We are looking for candidates to fill new positions in the recently awarded USAID funded Tuhifadhi Maliasili Activity. The goal of the project is to address dynamics that hinder habitat connectivity and the long-term persistence of biodiversity in Tanzania. The positions will be based in Dar, Tanzania with some travel required to the project areas.
POSITION: Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning and GIS Officer
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) and GIS officer will provide assistance on tools, frameworks, and data collection methods and support GIS data collection to include the location of implementation activities, infrastructure, and environmental features and data.
Skills & Abilities:
- Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of experience and/or Master’s degree and 3 years of experience in designing and implementing M&E systems and identifying sources of scientific data and data gaps
- Knowledge of reporting procedures, best practices, guidelines, methods, and approaches for MEL.
- Experience building capacity of scientific research institutions, CSOs and private sector.
- Demonstrated experience with indicators relevant to natural resources management, biodiversity and conservation, wildlife trafficking, and/or climate change adaptation.
- Ability to articulate and apply CLA principles.
- Demonstrated experience in analytical skills and data visualization, including work with ArcGIS and/or QGIS and other statistical software/tools, and GIS story mapping
Position: Capacity Building Specialist
The candidate will work closely with public and private stakeholders and partner organizations to build their internal capacity
Skills & Abilities:
- Master’s degree in conservation, ecosystem management, natural resources management, environmental science or related field with a minimum of 6 years working experience or Bachelor’s degree with 10 years of related working experience.
- Experience working with counterparts at various levels of government, private sector leaders, local organizations, and other stakeholders.
- Experience conducting training needs assessment (TNA) and implementing capacity building trainings
- Proficiency in English is required
Position: Procurement and Administrative Assistant
The candidate will provide overall management of project Logistical needs including but not limited to the processes of procurement (Local and International), and oversight of asset management and inventory control.
Skills & Abilities:
- Master’s degree or Bachelor’s Degree and 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Additional professional training in procurement and logistics management preferred
- Knowledge of USAID procurement policies and regulations a plus.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and procurement software;
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills
- Experience in general business administration and financial management;
Position: Private Sector Engagement Officer
The Officer will provide technical support for activities that cover identification of potential products and services, value addition, quality assurance, and linkages to broader markets for conservation friendly products and services.
Skills & Abilities:
- Master’s degree in business administration, biodiversity conservation, ecosystem management, natural resources management, Environmental/natural resource economics, environmental science or/and Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of experience in private sector development and agribusiness.
- Experience and/or training on agribusiness, value chain assessments, and innovative financing models by different financial institutions.
- Experience working with counterparts at various levels of government, private sector leaders, and other stakeholders preferred;
- Proficiency in English is required.
Position: Communications Officer
The Officer will support the project’s internal and external communication strategy and development of communication and other technical deliverables,
Skills & Abilities:
- Master’s degree in relevant field and or bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 1 year of experience in communications and/or outreach.
- Strong knowledge of USAID’s CLA principles
- Communications experience on donor-funded projects preferred.
- Experience preparing communications plans.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically about communications objectives.
- Great communication and interpersonal skills in English.
- Ability to travel and work throughout Tanzania
