Overview
The intern will support Jhpiego’s Humanitarian Action initiative. In coordination with Tanzania and US-based teams, the intern will strengthen connections with relevant humanitarian actors in Tanzania and produce practical deliverables. The intern will impact Jhpiego Tanzania’s positioning within the country’s humanitarian landscape.
Learning opportunities:
- Gain practical experience in Humanitarian focused project management and NGO/CSO/CBO
- Develop conceptual skills in Humanitarian focused project management, operations and data analysis.
- Enhance understanding on Humanitarian activities and system strengthening.
- Network with professionals in the humanitarian field.
This position will be closed on June 29, 2024
Responsibilities
- Documenting Jhpiego Tanzania humanitarian responses and initiatives through knowledge management tools/platforms and reports
- Developing and releasing Situation Reports, when necessary
- In collaboration with our humanitarian partner, RAPID Tanzania, conduct humanitarian partner mapping exercises
- Setting up meet and greets with strategic partners in the humanitarian space
- Scan in-country humanitarian landscape and keep country leadership and US teams updated
- Participate in external humanitarian coordination meetings (i.e., cluster meetings, other coordination mechanisms)
- Contribute to the disaster needs-assessment process
- Link with possible humanitarian funding opportunities
- Participating in disaster management NGO network Tanzania (DINGONET) meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in public health, international affairs, conflict studies, or other applicable sector
- Familiarity with the cluster system, Sphere Standard, and basic humanitarian principles
- Willing to acquire new knowledge
- Strong research skills
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple requests with attention to detail and deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Has bachelor’s degree in social sciences, or a related field.
- Strong interest in global health, capacity building, and community development.
- Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
