Location: International School of Tanganyika, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

Position Overview:
The International School of Tanganyika seeks an exceptional leader and visionary educator to serve as the Secondary School Principal. The principal will work as a member of the Senior Leadership Team to ensure that all IST students are challenged, supported, and inspired to become accountable citizens who thrive in a dynamic world.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Building Professional Capacity:
- Develop staffing plans to support the school’s mission and aims.
- Assist in the recruitment and orientation of excellent teaching staff.
- Ensure professional development opportunities for staff.
- Conduct appraisals of teaching staff.
2. Maximizing Student Learning:
- Oversee the development and implementation of a coherent, documented curriculum.
- Coordinate class schedules consistent with the school’s teaching philosophy.
- Encourage student participation in curriculum development.
- Maintain communication with parents regarding student progress.
- Oversee the admissions process in conjunction with the Admissions Office.
- Monitor the After-School Activities program.
- Reinforce high standards of student behavior.
- Submit and manage budget plans for educational materials.
3. Creating a Supportive Ethos:
- Develop an ethos of openness, respect, collaboration, and innovation.
- Maintain a visible and approachable presence for parents and visitors.
- Communicate effectively with the school community.
- Attend school events and functions as appropriate.
- Ensure understanding of curriculum programs among community members.
4. Overseeing the Secondary Campus:
- Ensure the health and safety of students, staff, and visitors in collaboration with the Facilities and Maintenance Manager.
- Utilize campus facilities to support the school’s programs.
- Submit and manage budget plans for capital expenditures.
5. Whole School Leadership:
- Collaborate on school action plans within the school-wide strategic plan.
- Support the Director in Board meetings and reporting.
- Implement school policies and contribute to the school-wide ethos.
