1. PROCUREMENT OFFICER (1 POST)
Purpose:
Support the implementation and execution of the courier strategy for all MCL products. The role involves assisting in courier operations to maximize sales revenue, ensure sustainable business growth, and achieve set targets while maintaining high service standards.
Main Responsibilities:
- Ensure that IPRs are promptly issued for goods and services and LPO/FPOs are approved.
- Follow up and ensure that goods and services ordered are actually delivered as per specifications.
- Monitor consumption, stock, and re-order levels.
- Ensure that all returns, printed waste, miscellaneous disposable assets, and materials are sold in accordance with the approved procedure.
- Liaise with user departments to ensure that all office utilities are readily available and cost-effectively used.
- Monitors all insurance matters to ensure adequate cover, settlement of claims, and update records.
- Perform annual supplier’s evaluation and communicate feedback for improvements.
- Manage supplier relationships.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Academic: Basic University Degree in Procurement and Supplies from a reputable institution.
- Experience: 3-5 years of work experience in a similar role in a reputable organization.
- Professional: Registered by Procurement and Supplies Professionals and Technicians Board (PSPTB).
Job Title: Creative Reporter – Mwananchi (1 Post)
Purpose:
The Creative Reporter will be responsible for generating engaging, innovative, and high-quality content for Mwananchi Newspaper. The role requires storytelling skills that go beyond traditional news reporting, incorporating creativity, in-depth analysis, and multimedia elements to captivate readers and enhance audience engagement.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
- Academic: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Experience: 4-5 years of working experience.
Main Responsibilities:
- Research, develop, and write compelling feature stories, human interest pieces, and in-depth reports.
- Use creative angles and innovative storytelling techniques to make news more engaging.
- Integrate multimedia elements (photos, videos, and infographics) to enhance storytelling.
- Conduct interviews and background research to uncover unique and impactful stories.
- Identify trends and emerging topics to develop fresh and relevant content.
- Verify sources and ensure content meets journalistic integrity and ethical standards.
- Adapt content for digital platforms, including online articles and social media.
- Collaborate with the digital team to ensure high engagement and audience reach.
- Work closely with editors, photographers, and designers to create visually appealing stories.
- Attend editorial meetings and contribute innovative content ideas.
- Ensure all stories meet Mwananchi’s editorial guidelines and quality standards.
- Work within tight deadlines to produce timely and impactful content.
Position Overview
The job entails going out on assignments as well as using one’s own initiative to gather news. The jobholder is responsible for ensuring that the news stories submitted are factual, of public interest, detailed, well-researched, and in conformity with journalistic ethics, editorial objectives, and house style.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, report, and write news and feature stories for the assigned title, ensuring no major rewrite or extensive additional report is needed.
- Take notes on location, conduct interviews, check facts, and tape record as needed; write news or features independently, based on personal judgment or at the direction of the news editor or section editor.
- Research and provide background information to make the copy complete.
- Follow news leads and maintain close contact with news sources.
- Brief the News Editor on stories gathered and write the selected stories within set deadlines.
- Continually build and maintain a contacts list, demonstrating its value with consistent exclusive reports or information.
- Respond promptly to news breaks and demonstrate responsibility for the correctness of facts, content, and style of news materials.
- Closely cooperate with photographers to order pictures related to the issues being covered.
- Perform duties both independently and under supervision according to general principles and directives.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Academic Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Experience: 4-5 years of working experience in journalism.
