This role will be focused on the following:

  1. Ensure that country set up comply with Logistical Handbook, NRC policies and donor requirements
  2. Implement NRC’s logistics systems and procedures
  3. Training and support of line managers and staff with logistical responsibilities
  4. Management of the logistics team
  5. Ensure anti-corruption, transparency and cost efficiency focus in procedures and trainings
  6. Establish filing systems/archives according to NRC standards in all offices
  7. Ensure that transport, vehicle and asset management, procurement and other logistical processes take place in compliance with Logistical Handbook and donor requirements
  8. Personnel management of the logistics team at country office and guidance to the Area Offices
  9. Training and development of logistics teams in all offices

The more Specific responsibilities will include :

  1. Ensure the timely delivery of logistics support services to all NRC Country projects
  2. Assist in logistics budget preparation and follow up and manage allocated budget lines
  3. Ensure proper accounting, reporting and internal control systems and maintenance of records
  4. Lead logistics management and developing structures and staffing levels to ensure that at all time requirements are met in all offices
  5. Responsible for agreements with suppliers and identify areas of improvement including pre-qualified suppliers
  6. Ensure procurements are within defined procurement lead times
  7. Supervision and build capacity of the logistics team in the country
  8. Setup key performance measures for all aspects of logistics activities and regularly review them against actual performance

Directly assisting and contributing to program and project design, including budget development


Generic professional competencies:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience from working as a senior Logistician in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
  •  Fluency in English, both written and verbal
  • Valid driver’s license

  1. Knowledge of the country context in Tanzania and the wider East Africa region
  2. Planning skills, able to set priorities, prepare manageable work plans and to evaluate progress
  3. Ability to plan for different sets of scenarios

  5. Able to take initiative and work with limited supervision according to agreed priorities
  6. Active Team member and Team builder, able to increase efficiency through an open and cooperative liaison with relevant colleagues throughout NRC and partner Organizations

  8. Political and cultural awareness and experience of working where insecurity is a major issue
  9. Computer skills on windows based computer software, and modern accounting systems – database knowledge, wireless networking background knowledge

Additional Details:

Duty Station: Kibondo, Tanzania.

Type of Contract: 12 months renewable based on funding, performance, and the need for position

Salary: Based upon the NRC grading Scale

Travel: 30%
