Overview
TANZANIA NATIONAL ROADS AGENCY (TANROADS) is a Semi-Autonomous Agency under the Ministry of Works established on July 1, 2000 and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Tanzania Mainland’s trunk and regional roads network. Its primary functions include the management of maintenance and development works, operations of the network and Axle Load Control, the implementation of road safety and environmental measures, provision of advice on the strategic framework, policies and plans for the road sector.

The regional Manager’s office TANROADS -KIBAHA, on behalf of the Chief Executive TANROADS, intends to recruit suitable qualified and competent Tanzanian to fill the following vacancies on specific duties within the regional on renewable contract terms. Applications are invited from suitable qualified and competent Tanzanians to apply for the following positions below.

In making sure that the Agency strengthens the capacity to perform its functions effectively, the Regional Manager, TANROADS – Coast seeks to recruit qualified and competent Tanzanian Citizens to fill the available job vacancies below at Regional Manager’s Office TANROADS – Coast on contract terms as follows;

POSITION TITTLE: SECRETARY (Regional Manager’s Office) -1 Vacancy (RE-ADVERTISED)
POSITION RELATIONSHIP
: Reports to Incharge of Accounts and Administration
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manages the Regional Manager’s and Office’s diary
  • Makes appointments for the Regional Manager
  • Attend to telephone calls
  • Attend to visitors
  • Manage records movement
  • Write minutes during meetings
  • Undertake general secretarial and word processing duties for the Regional Manager
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be Tanzanian Citizen
  • Must have Certificate of Secondary Education Examination
  • Must have Certificate in Secretarial Duties or NTA 5 Certificate from a recognized Institution
  • Not above 45 years of age
  • Must be fluent in Kiswahili and English Languages in both written and spoken
REMUNERATION: As per TANROADS Scale 3.1

POSITION TITTLE: ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT (Weighbridge) - 2 Vacancies (RE-ADVERTISED)
POSITION RELATIONSHIP: 
Reports to Incharge of Accounts and Administration
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Carrying out activities as described in The Road Traffic (Maximum Weight of Vehicles) Regulations, 2001 which include the following.
  • Collecting and banking all weighbridge charges (fees) according to weighbridge report form
  • Seeking current USD exchange rates issued by Bank of Tanzania for case of imposing charges that are equivalent to Tanzania Shilling;
  • Filing and submitting all records timely;
  • Maintaining assets register
  • Observing good customer care, dignity and integrity;
  • Reporting all matters to the Weighbridge Shift Incharge
  • Performing any other related duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be Tanzanian Citizen
  • Holder of an Ordinary Diploma in Accounts from a recognized Institution
  • Must be a computer literate (at least Advanced Certificate in Computer Applications)
  • Not above 35 years of age
  • Fluent in both written and spoken Kiswahili and English languages
REMUNERATION: As per TANROADS Scale 3.1

POSITION TITTLE: TECHNICIAN (Regional Manager’s Office) – 2 Vacancy
POSITION RELATIONSHIP:
 Reports to Incharge of Maintenance Unit
Scope of position
The successful candidate should be ready to work for considerable lengths of time when required under minimum supervision.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To inspect and reports on roads and bridges maintenance works.
  • To supervise road and bridge maintenance works
  • To measure and certify works for payment
  • To undertake road traffic count
  • To carry out in situ testing
  • To undertake laboratory tests and to monitor tests results and trends
  • To prepare invoices for material testing
  • To undertake laboratory apparatus and equipment calibration
  • To prepare site report
  • To perform such other related duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor
  • Must be Tanzanian Citizen
  • Must be a holder of Ordinary Diploma or Full Technician Certificate in Civil Engineering, Highway Engineering, Transportation Engineering or equivalent qualifications from any recognized Institution.
  • Not above 35 years of age
  • Must be computer literate
  • Must be fluent in Kiswahili and English Languages in both written and spoken
  • Self-motivated, able to work under pressure outside working hours with minimum supervision

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE:

Appointments will be on Contract Terms of Two Years (2), (renew­able) subject to satisfactory performance, efficiency and effective­ness.
