Serengeti Breweries Limited (SBL) is a fully integrated beverage business in Diageo Africa (supply and demand for beer and spirits) It is a subsidiary of East Africa Breweries Limited (EABL), the largest business unit in Diageo Africa and the largest listed Company on the NSE in Kenya. SBL operates exclusively in Tanzania and is the second largest beer company with a market share of around 25%.

SBL was incorporated in 1988 as Associated Breweries Limited and changed its name to Serengeti Breweries Limited in 2002 and commenced commercial operations in 1996 with one brewery in Dar es Salaam. The company was acquired by EABL in October 2010 and has three breweries located in Dar es Salaam, Mwanza and Moshi.

SBL flagship brand is Serengeti Premium Lager. Other brand portfolios include Guinness and Plisner.  Headquartered in Dar es Salaam, SBL is also the distributor of several global Diageo international renowned spirit brands such as Johnnie Walker®, Smirnoff Vodka®, Bailey’s Irish Cream ®, Richot®, Bond 7 Whiskey® and Gilbeys Gin®.

 

Role purpose

The Commercial Data Analyst will be responsible for collecting, compiling, and analysing sales and related data and providing valuable feedback and useful insights to guide the various business and RTC strategy initiatives within the company.


Top accountabilities

Data management

  • Reviews the data changes processes to ensure compliance with business process and highlight any deviation for actions by the Commercial Execution Lead.
  • Defines the structure of any additional data sets required to complete analysis of a given business problem, collects and cleanses the data for analysis
  • Support with data quality assurance and data cleansing of existing data sets for analysis

Performance Reporting

  • On an ongoing and ad hoc bases report and verifies daily, Weekly and monthly Key performance Indicators (KPI) are updated based on the business & RTC team needs
  • Identifying and understanding performance trends, assessing performance against targets and highlights opportunities
  • Analytics capability support for the divisional distributor super user network
  • Process and analyze large datasets, producing clear findings and recommendations

Dashboard Automation and Change Management

  • Gathering and refining of requirements to build dashboards that address business & RTC teams business needs
  • Develops tests and trains the team to navigate and generate insights from the dashboard developed
  • Develops a business case on any additional enhancements that are not within the current system capabilities.
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT) on enhancement build in the existing systems

Qualifications and Experience Required:

A business-related degree or equivalent.

Advanced MS Excel and MS SQL skills

2 years’ experience in analytics or sales role

Strong attention to detail.

Ability to follow defined business processes.

Ability to manage and monitor data quality.

Good interpersonal skills including the ability to influence

Technical Operator-Brewing

Purpose of the role

 

Responsible for running/operating the machinery as well as do regular maintenance on the machines.

 

Key accountabilities

 

  • Operates and monitors the equipment according to the SOP
  • Adheres to Environment, Health and Safety procedures and standards
  • Performs equipment shutdowns according to the SOP
  • Run the equipment at the rated speed
  • Capture data and update on provided reporting platforms
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene by keeping the equipment and surrounding areas clean
  • Deliver product that meets all quality requirements
  • Run equipment in compliance with the design parameters
  • Responsible for the proper maintenance and safe operation of all machinery under their indirect control.
  • Conducts look-listen-feel inspections of the equipment and initiate work requests
  • Solves situational problems by using troubleshooting tools

 

Qualifications and Experience Required:

Bsc in food Science and Technology, Bsc in Chemical engineering

Experience in handling machines and autonomous maintenance for at least 3 years in manufacturing industry

Mechanical Technician

Role purpose

The Electrical/Mechanical Technicians provide engineering support in the brewery.

Top accountabilities

  • Accountable for plant Maintenance during the shift
  • Manage shift operation independently (include all utilities, brewing, ETP and packaging)
  • Understand and maintain critical metric – co2, energy and water
  • Implements the maintenance schedules
  • Implement maintenance breakdowns repairs immediately
  • Coach the technical operator on technical techniques
  • Ensure compliance with safety requirements at the work environment

 

Qualifications and Experience Required:

Qualifications

Higher National Diploma in Mechanical or Instrumentation Electrical Engineering or VETA technical course

Experience

At least three 3years experience in process engineering

Warehouse Coordinators

Role purpose

To manage inbound and outbound inventory operations for SBL products (Raw Materials, packaging materials, Point of Sale (POS)) for a specific warehouse as might be assigned. This is to be done efficiently, safely and cost effectively.

 

TOP 3-5 accountabilities

  • Execution of inbound and outbound activities on daily basis – timely and accurate postings of materials
  • Execution of Material Requirement Plans (MRP) to ensure appropriate Warehouse Utilization.
  • Stock reconciliations: Perform stock reconciliation for finished goods, empties and raw materials
  • Inventory Management: Carryout Weekly counts, Monthly and Annual stock takes and variance analysis, Track inventory levels, Track stock aging, Innovations and SLOBs plus relaying information back to PLAN.
  • Performance Management reviews: Lead Shift based and Daily performance reviews (Meetings, KPIs, Walkabouts, action tracking and escalations to the Warehouse Manager for both Diageo and 3PL for improvements and implementation of initiatives.
  • Controls: Ensure that the warehouse (owned or leased) meets Diageo’s HSE standards, Optimize lighting, signage, security, warehouse racks and layout configuration ways of brewing, CARM, IAA, ISOs and SFIPP.

 

Qualifications and Experience Required:

A minimum of Bachelor degree in relevant field

A minimum of 3 years working experience in a related, operations or inventory management role.

Computer literate and ability to work under agreed timelines and priorities.

Good Communicator, commercially acumen and able to adapt to a fast-changing operations environment.
