The story
Comprehensive Community Based Rehabilitation in Tanzania (CCBRT) aims to be the preferred provider of accessible specialized health services in Africa and serves as healthcare social enterprise and through development programmes in the community and the most vulnerable. Committed to preventing lifelong disabilities wherever possible, CCBRT is also engaged in extensive maternal and newborn healthcare (MNHC) activities including obstetric fistula repairs. Its Maternity and Newborn Wing serves as a referral centre for high risk and emergency deliveries in the region of Dar es Salaam and the Eastern Zone of Tanzania.
For expansion and strengthening our pediatric and child health services, we are looking for dynamic and committed Pediatrician to join our team.
The role
As Specialist in Pediatrics & Child Health, you will provide high quality clinical paediatric care to children and newborns. You will examine patients, obtain medical history, and perform a wide range of tests during OPD consultations and ward rounds; You assess (pre/post-) surgical requirements.
You implement the standards of care and promote perinatal care. You collaborate with colleagues to plan treatment, both medical and nonmedical if need be. You participate in perinatal, natal, and post natal audits.
You will conduct on the job training programmes for newborn care in the neonatal unit/postnatal wards. Support the implementation of standard operating procedures for essential newborn care, newborn resuscitation, support implementation of kangaroo mother care and infection prevention practices
Furthermore, you will be part of the on-call team and rotate in on-call duties and therefore preparedness to work in weekends and on emergency is an important aspect of the job.

The candidate
- MD with Master’s Degree (MMeD) in Pediatrics and Child Health from a recognized institution.
- Registered with the medical council of Tanganyika and in possession of a valid license to practice.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Kiswahili and English.
- Excellent patient management and interpersonal skills.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Computer literate.
