Position Title: Journalist II

Reports To: Editor-in-Chief

Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Journalist II to join our editorial team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for journalism, an eye for detail, and the ability to produce engaging and accurate content in a fast-paced environment. As a Journalist II, you will be responsible for covering a wide range of topics, including current events, politics, sports, entertainment, and technology, ensuring our audience receives timely and relevant news updates.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Research, write, and edit high-quality news articles, features, and reports.
• Stay updated on current events and trending topics to ensure timely and relevant news coverage.
• To write News, stories, features and commentaries
• To check accuracy and facts
• To translate stories, features and commentaries
• To determine a story’s emphasis, length, and format, and organizes material accordingly.
• To research and analyze background information re­lated to stories in order to be able to provide complete and accurate information
• To receive assignments or evaluate leads and tips in order to develop story ideas
• To perform any other duties related to the field as as­signed by the supervisors.

Qualifications:

• Holder of a Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mass Communication, Journalism, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a news writer, journalist, or similar role.
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Strong understanding of journalistic principles, ethics, and standards.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in using content management systems (CMS) and SEO tools.
• Strong research and analytical skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to handle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
• Familiarity with social media platforms and audience engagement strategies.

REMUNERATION

• Salary: TZS 300,000 – 500,000 per month
