Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS)

Introduction:
Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is a semi-autonomous agency under the Ministry of Works. Established on July 1, 2000, TANROADS is responsible for road safety, environmental measures, and strategic road sector policies. The Regional Manager, TANROADS-Tanga, on behalf of the Chief Executive, invites qualified Tanzanians to apply for vacancies for the Supervision of Mafuleta – Kileguru Road Project (30KM).


Position Title: Works Inspector – Road Works (1 Post)

Educational/Professional Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  2. Minimum 3 years of experience in road construction.
  3. Self-motivated, able to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
  4. Fluent in English and a Tanzanian citizen.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise works to ensure compliance with specifications.
  2. Implement QA/QC procedures.
  3. Maintain records such as diaries, correspondence, and reports.
  4. Measure quantities of roadworks daily.
  5. Prepare and submit progress reports.
  6. Identify and segregate non-conforming materials.


Position Title: Works Inspector – Drainage and Structure (1 Post)

Educational/Professional Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  2. Registered with ERB as a Graduate/Professional Engineer.
  3. Minimum 3 years of experience in drainage and structure design or construction.
  4. Fluent in English and a Tanzanian citizen.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise drainage works and maintain related records.
  2. Measure quantities of completed works daily.
  3. Submit progress reports with updated costs.
  4. Maintain a site diary.
  5. Perform other duties as required.


Position Title: Resident Engineer (1 Post)

Educational/Professional Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  2. Registered with ERB as a Professional Engineer with a valid practicing license.
  3. Experience in contract management under FIDIC conditions is an added advantage.
  4. Served as a Resident Engineer in at least two road construction projects of similar scope.
  5. Proficient in written and spoken English.
  6. Tanzanian citizen with 10+ years of experience in the field.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise the contractor on-site.
  2. Manage project work plans, quality, and contracts.
  3. Process monthly statements and facilitate payments.
  4. Prepare progress reports, minutes of site meetings, and maintain records.
  5. Monitor social and environmental impact measures.
  6. Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Manager.


Position Title: Assistant Surveyor (1 Post)

Educational/Professional Qualifications:

  1. Diploma in Land Surveying or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  2. At least 2 years of cumulative experience in survey works.
  3. Proficient in written and spoken English.
  4. Tanzanian citizen, 25 years or older.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct surveys to determine the shape, contour, and dimensions of land.
  2. Coordinate survey findings with engineers and project stakeholders.
  3. Adjust instruments to maintain accuracy.
  4. Establish fixed points for mapping and measurements.
  5. Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
