About One Acre Fund
Founded in 2006, One Acre Fund supplies smallholder farmers with the agricultural services they need to make their farms vastly more productive. We provide quality farm supplies on credit, delivered within walking distance of farmers’ homes, and agricultural trainings to improve harvests. We measure our success by our ability to make farmers more prosperous: On average, farmers harvest 50 percent more food after working with One Acre Fund.
We are growing quickly. We currently serve more than 800,000 farm families in Eastern and Southern Africa, with more than 7,500 full-time staff, and we aim to serve 1 million farm families by 2020. In Tanzania, we have grown in the last 6 years to serve over 52,000 farm families with more than 600 full-time staff in Tanzania.
Job Description
One Acre Fund is rapidly increasing the number of regions, districts, and members we serve each year. We are seeking a local government officer to act as: a point of contact for local Ministry of Agriculture officials; an administrator for reports and meetings; a resource for risks and issues involving officials. In this role, you would begin engaging with the local government through regional and district meetings and forums (e.g. RAA, DIACOs, DCs, WAEOs and VAEOs) in Njombe region. You would also develop relationships that support the field activities of One Acre Fund across the entire country as may be needed.
This role would report to the Government Relations Specialist. We are seeking an individual that can demonstrate a strong understanding of local government structures, who has an interest in agriculture and is an effective communicator. The role would also require regular travel to Northern Tanzania and demonstrated IT skills as well as an undergraduate degree.  
Primary responsibilities include: 
  • Build and maintain relationships with local government authorities as a focal person for communication between the organization and local government administration. 
  • Ensure timely submission of all required letters to village, ward, district and regional authorities. 
  • Attend district and regional sectoral meetings called by LGAs and facilitate learning visits for LGAs to areas of operation. 
  • Draft quarterly reports for dissemination to district and national partners. 
  • Support the expansion of One Acre Fund's activities both inward in increasing client density and outward into new villages, districts and regions. 
  • Address and resolve conflicts that arise during field program implementation. 
  • Ensure compliance of One Acre Fund operations with legal and regulatory requirements at local levels. 
  • Arrange and facilitate relevant inspection and testing for seeds, fertilizer and premises in line with regulatory requirements. 
  • Keep track and advise on changes in local regulatory platform. 
  • Conduct regular training and knowledge sharing for frontline staff on building and maintaining relationships with local government as well as mitigating and managing risks in operations

Qualifications
We are seeking professionals with a minimum of two years experience some of which will have been in or with government institutions and a demonstrated passion for agricultural development in Tanzania. We are looking for candidates that are organized and proactive and who are familiar with the challenges faced by smallholder farmers in Southern Tanzania. Candidates who meet the following criteria are strong encouraged to apply:
  • Undergraduate degree from a recognized academic institution 
  • Work experience in a demanding professional environment such as government, business or NGOs. 
  • Leadership and management experience at work or outside of work. 
  • Passionate about serving smallholder farmers. 
  • Proven ability to set and meet targets or goals. 
  • Demonstrated computer skills in email, internet usage, and Microsoft Office. 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with good attention to detail. 
  • A willingness to commit to living in Njombe for a long-term position. 
  • Fluent in Kiswahili and English.

Job Description
We are seeking a Corporate Operations Administrative Supervisor to perform key tasks that support a strong office culture and ensure staff can complete their roles in a safe, clean and comfortable environment. The scope of the role includes office space management, office culture support, vehicle management and visitor coordination and support.  
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Complete administrative tasks related to the office such as ensuring a clean office environment, opening and closing the office daily, developing a proper filing and management of all documents related to Corporate Operations. 
  • Manage the acquisition, storage and inventory of offices supplies including oversight of stock-in and stock-out systems and timely payments to key vendors. 
  • Ensure lunch is provided to staff in a timely, efficient, and cost effective manner including brainstorming and implementing process improvements to the office kitchen and cooking system. 
  • Champion the OAF culture by incorporating OAF values into your work and maintaining an office environment that supports the office culture we desire. 
  • Receive and support all OAF Office Guests including greeting guests and introducing them to the office environment. 
  • Manage the maintenance and use of the Iringa office vehicles and support the coordination of vehicle management for regional offices as well. 
  • Manage the staff and equipment for the office environment including cleaner and groundsman. 
  • Ensure a safe work environment by coordinating with OAF security staffer to ensure adherence to security protocols for the Iringa office and collaborating the set up of office security for regional offices.
