About the The Julius Nyerere 2115 MW Hydropower Project - Tanzania
On the waters of the Rufiji river, in joint venture with The Arab Contractors of Egypt (Osman A. Osman & Co.), ELSEWEDY ELECTRIC is entrusted by the people and government of Tanzania to execute, The Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project. This national mega project that would secure clean power supply to more than 60 million Tanzanians.
EPC scope of works that includes the main dam, saddle dam, coffer dams, diversion tunnels, stop logs & gates, trash racks, admin building, workshop building, colony, intake structure, power house, cranes, spillways, roads, Rufiji bridge, control building, switchyard, surge tanks, hydro turbines with auxiliaries, generators with auxiliaries, main control valves, power tunnels, transmission lines and firefighting system.
Responsible for moving extra-heavy equipment, machinery, and materials that are impossible to be moved through conventional methods.
A rigger makes use of cranes and lifts to help transport heavy equipment, machinery, or large heavy cargo such as manufacturing equipment or construction machinery.
The main objective of the rigger is to move heavy equipment or machinery to the required location without causing any form of damage to the product being transported, property, or individuals.
The rigger job description entails fastening up large loads and monitoring, overseeing, and directing the operators of the transport equipment; reporting any arising issues and ensuring that completed work orders are well documented.
It also involves overseeing, monitoring, and delegating transportation tasks to ensure that they are efficiently completed by the proper workers and teams.
Riggers are saddled with the responsibility of preparing the materials that are to be moved, which involves dismantling machinery and ensuring that materials are stored appropriately so that they are safe and secured during the transportation.
They also prepare the rigging equipment, which involves setting up the rigging tools such as pulleys, beams, bolts, clamps, etc. to ensure that the materials are handled and moved smoothly.
After the preparation and the set up processes have been completed, the rigger is then in charge of properly moving and handing the materials or machinery, which involves overseeing the control of every movement of the materials as they are transported and communicating with his or her team members often, to ensure the safety of every individual and materials involved in the process.
