Position Overview
This position reports directly to the Country Manager – Tanzania and works closely with the Monitoring and Evaluation Associate, Development Team, and Senior Management.
Duties
The Strategic Partnerships and Development Associate will develop and maintain relationships with partner organizations, businesses, and individuals to support the mission and goals of our organization in Tanzania. This includes identifying potential partners, negotiating and managing partnerships, coordinating events and initiatives, and working closely with the Development, Marketing, and Communications teams within the organization to ensure effective collaboration and resource mobilization.
Job Functions
- Research potential partnership opportunities that align with Asante Africa’s mission and goals in Tanzania and globally.
- Develop and implement national fundraising strategies to secure financial support from partners including grant writing, cultivating and following up with prospective partners, collaborators, and funders, and ensuring timely submission of proposals.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external organizations, businesses, and individuals in Tanzania to establish strategic partnerships and funding opportunities.
- Work closely with the Development, Marketing, and Communications teams within the organization to ensure effective collaboration and alignment of strategies tailored for Tanzania in order to raise awareness of key sustainable interventions.
- Support the communications and MEL officer in monitoring the Fundraising tracking matrix.
- Collectively craft key messages within and outside the organization.
- Assist with preparation of internal events and represent Asante Africa at events, conferences, and meetings in Tanzania to promote partnerships and expand the network.
- Utilize organization tools and systems to continuously outreach to existing leads in Tanzania and beyond to move the potential partner to an appointment/proposal/agreement, etc.
- Collaborate with the finance team to ensure compliance with regulations and contractual obligations.
- Provide administrative support in a well-organized and timely manner.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Social Sciences, Business, Marketing, Communications, and other relevant studies.
- 2-4 years of experience in strategic partnerships, business development, or related fields.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Canva, Salesforce, Google Workspace, Zoom, and LinkedIn.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; including writing and public speaking.
- Strong project management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent time management; the ability to prioritize workload to meet timelines.
- Experience communicating effectively across cultures and time zones.
- A personal interest and commitment to Asante Africa Foundation’s mission.
- Background in non-profit or youth empowerment/engagement programs preferred.
