Country Manager Job at Weir Minerals East Africa

Business Need/Purpose of Role:

To manage the relevant branches, ensuring the achievement of sales and operational targets, and conformance to customer requirements, thereby contributing to the achievement of company objectives and customer satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with five to eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Valid passport and work permit

Key Tasks:

  • Identify, target and successfully tender on new projects and inquiries, ensuring correct pump selections for appropriate slurry applications, achieving strategic and financial objectives
  • Development and implementation of a successful after-market strategy ensuring profitable repeat-business from existing & new customer base
  • Pro-actively target and successfully convert competitor’s customers to Weir Minerals product offerings
  • Effectively manage customer expectations and successfully negotiate commercial outcomes consistent with achievement of strategic and financial objectives
  • Identify and defend aggressively competitive threats against existing customer base
  • Critically analyse and respond to customer complaints, outlining appropriate initiatives to resolve issues successfully
  • Frequent travel to develop new & enhance existing customer relationships by providing value-adding services to customers on site
  • Development & achievement of an annual budget (in line with strategic plan) and monthly reporting on key result areas
  • Team involvement & enthusiastic contribution to improvement initiatives of Weir Minerals Africa
  • Mentoring and development of back-office technical support team
  • Establishment, development & control of new branch offices where sustainable business established
  • Weekly reports on activities undertaken, identifying opportunities, threats, issues and recommendations
  • Achieve budget and working capital targets
  • Manage branch resources, e.g. labour, spares etc
  • Maximise labour and profitability
  • Ensure adherence to all HSE and housekeeping requirements at the branch
  • Adhere to Duty of Care Policy at all times

Minimum Skills/Abilities:

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies and present information to top management.

Mathematical:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages and ratios to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills:

Microsoft (Excel / Word / Powerpoint); ERP Software; E-Curves; Q-Pulse; E-Proc

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
